St. Jerome’s Church

St. Jerome’s Church (Croatian: Crkva sv. Jere) is a church built in 1480 near a cliff in Marjan Park. It is a small rectangular church made of stone with a Gothic-style belfry and some Renaissance-style ornaments.

Right above the church on the cliff, you can find a cave, which many people (including St. Jerome, according to a legend) used as an hermitage and as a place to say prayers. The shelter was rebuilt in the second half of the 15th century.
