Shopping in Split

Green Market

The Split Green Market (Croatian: Pazar) is an open market where local farmers sell their produce, but you can also find souvenirs, clothing, and vanity items for sale. It is located just outside the eastern wall of Diocletian’s Palace. Shopping at Pazar is a unique experience for many visitors.

The market usually opens around 7 a.m. and closes around 2 p.m. Shopping after 12:30 can often be an opportunity to budget, as some of the vendors are likely to accept haggling for lower prices at this hour.

Fish Market

The Split Fish Market (Croatian: Ribarnica) is an open market where local fishermen sell their fish and seafood. It is located right next to Marmont Street, near the north end of Prokurative, but during the winter it is in a closed area. The sulfur springs nearby make it almost completely free of fleas.

Just like the green market, the fish market also usually opens around 7 a.m. and closes around 2 p.m. And again, shopping after 12:30 can often be an opportunity to budget, as some of the vendors are likely to accept haggling for lower prices at this hour.
