Wind speeds that are orange or worse, high waves or rain, could cause boat tours to be cancelled, especially if the destinations are far away (such as the Blue Cave),  as the winds are even stronger on the open sea.
You can also use the wind map below to see how strong the winds will be in the open sea or close to your target destinations.

Split, Croatia Climate Data

Like most coastal cities in Croatia, Split enjoys a Mediterranean climate; the winters are mild but wet and windy, and the summers are hot and mostly clear and dry. January is the coldest month, with averages around 7 °C (45 °F) and lows rarely under 4 °C (39 °F). The last time the city experienced snow that stayed on the ground for more than a few hours was in February 2012.

July is the warmest month, with average temperatures around 26 °C (79 °C). In recent years, it’s not a rare occasion to see highs of over 36 °C (97 °F) on specific days, but the average highs are around 31 °C (88 °F) during the warmest part of the summer. Mid-to-late June, July, August, and early September are the optimal times to visit Split if you want clear skies.

During an average year, there are under 80 rainy days that, on average, bring in under 800 mm (32 in) of rain. Split also enjoys over 2600 hours of sunshine a year. As a result of this weather, many people start swimming in the sea by early June, while the brave ones open the swimming season as early as the beginning of May. The sea is usually still warm in September, and by late October, it’s too cold for most people to swim in it.

Using the charts below, we’ve visualized all of this data for you. The charts show data averages over many recent years, giving a good insight on what kind of weather you can expect in which period of the year, so you can determine the ideal time for your visit to Split.
