The First Viewpoint on Marjan (Croatian: Prva vidilica na Marjanu) is the closest viewpoint to the center of Split and offers a great panoramic view of the city. It’s located at the entrance to the Marjan park, about 200 meters above the Riva and can be accessed via the Marjan Stairs or through the charming streets of Varoš (for the best experience, try using one on the way up and the other on the way down).
At the viewpoint, you will find a restaurant/bar and entrances to Marjan Park itself, with roads leading to the nearby Church of St. Nicholas the Traveler and all the way up to Telegrin, the peak of Marjan Hill, as well as the rest of the park. Next to the restaurant that’s on the viewpoint, you will also find the old Jewish cemetery, dating back to 1573.
Despite the fact that the First Viewpoint on Marjan is at a lower altitude compared to the peak, many will argue that it offers a better view of Split, as the view is not as obscured by trees compared to Telegrin.
